South Kingstown

The Town of South Kingstown in southern Rhode Island in Washington
County (population 27,921) which was first settled by ancestors of the
Narragansett Indians as far back as 2000 B.C. European settlement began
around 1657, and the town was incorporated in 1723. It lies west of Point
Judith Pond and extends northward from Block Island Sound. The township
includes the villages of Kingston, West Kingston, Peace Dale, Wakefield
(administrative centre), Matunuck, Green Hill, Perryville, and Tuckertown.

Visitors enjoy the riverfront walkway as well as The William C. O'Neill Bike
Path, which links with the Saugatucket River Walkway and crosses the
historic downtown village of Wakefield. South Kingstown is also home of the
University of Rhode Island. The spectacular 7,700 seat Thomas M. Ryan
Center hosts events from basketball and the circus to classical music
performances and contemporary music. The Kingston Train Station with
Amtrak service for the Northeast corridor, is also located here, and the
Railroad Museum of Rhode Island is located in the train station building.
Offers South Kingstown town Beach and East Matunuck Beach located on
Long Island Sound across from Block Island. No matter your preferred
