North Kingstown is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island. It's part of
the Providence metropolitan area. North Kingstown is known for its historic
villages, beaches, and colonial history. In 2020, the population was 27,732.
The town includes the village of Saunderstown.
Historically, the birthplace of Gilbert Stuart, the portrait who painted
George Washington's most popular image is located here along with the site
of the former Naval Air Station Quonset Point which offers the high-speed
ferry services to many places including Martha’s Vineyard. The historic
village of Wickford which is one of the "10 Best Main Streets in the U.S.A.".
Because of its location, natural harbor, and great shopping, North
Kingstown is notably one of the most popular places to live and visit in
South County.
